The Featherdale Wildlife Park is some distance away from downtown
Sydney. Getting there requires a train and a bus ride. It has a
nice sampling of the Australian/Tasmanian fauna however, kangaroos
are roaming around the park, and there is a koala exhibit where
you can go and pet them.
We found Koalas to be supremely indifferent to us, and mostly interested in eating their eucalyptus. But then again, when you need 20 hours of sleep a day, it's understandable that every waking minute counts, and humans are just big things not really deserving of much attention...
The picture at the top of this page is of a wombat, my favorite
animal along with the tasmanian devils.
